For hundreds of years utilities have been a way to provide essential services to groups of customers when individually they are unable to address shared needs. Now is the time for the real estate industry to take a shared approach to safeguarding the real estate consumer and real estate transactions. It is time for a collaboration utility.

The collaboration utility model

The collaboration utility model is simple. The focus is on Members. Rates are cost-based. Service is reliable. Dollars spent on collaboration stay in the industry and are re-invested here. Decisions are made to benefit the collaboration utility’s members through elected and appointed governing boards. Every Member benefits from the pooling of resources and the economies of scale. A collaboration utility follows the proven way to ensure fair pricing, reliable service, and equitable access. 

The BLITSCO™ Utility  

BLITSCO is the collaboration utility for the entire real estate industry. BLITSCO is the acronym for the Bankers, Lenders, Investors, Title insurance, and Service providers Cooperative Organization. Our primary purpose is to operate the BLITS System, which is also referred to as the BLITS Rail or BLITS Network. BLITSCO exists to serve the needs of our Members who share in the protection of real estate transactions and consumers. 

Key Functions of the BLITSCO Utility

  • Operations Management: We manage BLITS Rail’s operations according to industry standards and the BLITS System Procedures Manual. We ensure that collaboration activities are processed efficiently, securely, and reliably. 
  • Capability Enhancement: We enhance the BLITS Rail with capabilities to meet the needs of our members. 
  • Standards Maintenance: We maintain the industry’s collaboration standards. 
  • Rules of Conduct: We develop and maintain the rules and standards of conduct for the Members use of the BLITS Rail. 
  • Industry Partnerships: We maintain relationships with the industry vendors who are our partners and the trusted partners of our Members.  
  • Control Access: We manage the application and screening of companies requesting membership and apply the BLITS System Rules of Membership established by our governing board. 
  • Member Support: We support our members and vendor partners with education, training, and resources. 
  • Government Engagement: We engage directly with state, local, and federal government bodies, policy makers, and regulators to represent the interests of our industry in making real estate transactions safe and efficient. 

    Fair pricing, for all stakeholders

    BLITSCO rates for service are regulated by an independent pricing board. Like public utilities that have their prices set by a utilities commission, the rates for BLITSCO services are set by an independently elected group of members to cover the cost of providing the industry-wide collaboration service.
